Back on the bike

Got back on my bike yesterday, and managed to pick the wettest day of the year to do it. Still at least I had a dry pair of socks for my ride home, and the soaking forced me to have a bath. Despite the rain, it is nice to be exercising again. I had got a little concerned that my post race blow out was continuing too long, but jumping on the scales at home showed me to be 11stone 12 1/2 (75.5Kg) and a low body fat reading. So thats ok then – more mini snickers for me! I mean fruit and veg obviously.

One problem is that my ribs still seem to be hurting. On the first night on the boat, I took a fall in rough seas and bashed my ribs on the a door handle. It seemed to be getting better, but has got a little worse again. Not sure what it is (bruising? cracked ribs?), and I am not sure what to do about it, as I suspect that there isn’t much to do! Still I will keep active

Pictures

Below are a few pictures from the race. Hopefully they will help to give a bit of an insight into it. I will put a more comprehensive selection up on my web page, and include the link when I have done it!

There are more pics on my Uni webpage. These can be found here: Anton’s, Kate’s and Chris’

There are a lot, and they are unstructured, but they are worth a quick browse.

Team Sanoodi Blog

Just found the Team Sanoodi blog, which is a great read and far more professional and effusive than my own scribblings. I am guessing that they had a laptop on board. Not that I am bitter about doing the whole thing from my phone….

The guys from Team Sanoodi had a tiny boat, even smaller than Kithros II. Unfortunately for them they had to pull out while on their way to Corpach, with no wind, and no prospect of wind. This does mean that Kithros II finish in last place and seem to have won the Last Inn cup. No doubt this will sit on Bill and Bridget’s sideboard with pride.

I think that they deserve a big old well done for taking part. To me, it is the teams like Team Sanoodi and Kithros II, the smaller boats with less ambition, that make the race what it is. Well done guys.

Friday

Didn’t know what else to call this post. Got back last night, after meeting Becca and Eve at Colins and saying goodbye to the guys. We had a great team, and lots of laughs and fun. When I have more time I will write a longer post, detailing the race in more depth and include some photos. Check back in a couple of days time for those.

Briefly – thanks for all the input, sponsorship and comments. Its been great to know that people have been reading it and following the race. The final news is that we finished last, since Team Sanoodi withdrew today. The finalĀ 4 teams were seperated by less than one hour, and we finished in less than 4 days, a great time.

A great race. Check back soon for more.
