Shinfield 10K

Ran in the Shinfield 10K Road race yesterday. The day was warm and humid, and I had been at the beer festival for 3 days. I would like to think that this was the reason for my 2min over PB time of 44:18, but I suspect that the true reason is the lack of speed training. Heart rate maxed out at about 184, averaged about 174. I will confirm these tonight when I get home. There may also be a heart rate monitor graph, you luck, lucky people.

Becca also ran it, the first race since the birth of Eve. I think that the bug is back…

So for me, I need to return to the training book, and put in some serious speedwork if I am ever going to get back to the giddy heights of 42:00 or better.

On the downside, I have a sore ankle. Its not an Achilles problem and seems to be more to the side of my (left) ankle. Very peculiar. It has been building for some time, but I don’t have the time to stop and rest it properly. I will try and get through it as best I can, although I am looking forward to my sports massage this Friday. Maybe that, or my new trainers, will fix it….

UPDATE:

The HRM graph, as promised.

Shinfield 10K HRM graph

The top red line is the heart rate. The blue is speed, which hasn’t been registering properly for some reason. I managed to average 174 bpm and max 184bpm.
